ABOUT
The Mckinley County GIS Center primary goal is to provide necessary sources like maps, spatial information or accurate GIS data to County Departments on their needs relevant to their work in helping the public including other government offices in the most effective way.
The GIS Center is a service department. Our staff is not directly involved in the operations at Emergency Command Center. For example, we provide necessary tools like maps, aerial photograph and essential information or GPS coordinate locations of homes to Emergency Command Center to help families that need assistance.
RURAL ADDRESSING AND E-911
In McKinley County rural addressing and Enhanced 911(E-911) go hand in hand. E-911 is a system that is widely used in the United States and North America to enhance the capabilities of a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), also known as a 911 call center. This system provides 911 call dispatchers with a physical address they can provide to emergency services to greatly increase response times after an emergency 911 call has been placed. This means that fire, police, and medical responders can arrive sooner and with greater accuracy at the correct location. The Enhanced 911 system has been proven to save lives in emergency situations.
