Vision Statement

The vision of the McKinley County Office of Emergency Management is to further foster and coordinate whole-community partnerships, plans and capabilities to provide for the safety and welfare of McKinley County residents and visitors before, during and after any type of emergency or disaster that might occur.

Mission Statement

The mission of the McKinley County Office of Emergency Management is to facilitate a whole-community approach to enhance individual preparedness, business and government preparedness and the overall resiliency of McKinley County through collaborative efforts to mitigate, prevent, protect from, plan and prepare for, coordinate response to, and recover from any major or catastrophic incident that could impact the safety and well-being of McKinley County citizens and visitors. 

What does Emergency Management do?

Emergency Management professionals facilitate and coordinate collaboration between all aspects of the community to prepare for, lessen impacts of, respond to, and recover from major and catastrophic incidents.

  • Provided by State Statute 12-10-5 (NMSA 1978) The “All Hazard Emergency Management Act”, emergency managers are to “be appointed by the governing body, subject to the approval of the state director…” [Section 12-10-5 NMSA 1978]
