Tim Berry has been with McKinley County Fire Rescue since 2017. Serving as an on-call firefighter/paramedic, EMS Division Chief, Deputy Fire Chief and then Fire Chief in July 2024.
Tim moved to Gallup from Lubbock, Texas. He began his career as a volunteer firefighter in 1982. In 1990, Tim started working with Lubbock EMS as an EMT and then a paramedic. Tim retired from Lubbock EMS in 2015 as a Division Chief. After retirement he worked as the Hospital Preparedness Coordinator for 22 counties in the Lubbock area.
When not working or responding to call, Tim spends time with family and serving with his church. Tim is married to his wife, Martha, who is one of our volunteer firefighters. He has one son, Adam, who with his wife and two children, live in Gallup. Tim and his family had been coming to the Gallup area since 2009, doing mission work with their church in Lubbock. So the move here in 2017 was like coming home.
Tim said, "It is an honor to work along side the staff and volunteers of McKinley County Fire Rescue and the other responders in the county, to serve the citizens of our county."
