McKinley County DWI Program

Balloon Run

Mission

The McKinley County DWI Program is working to overcome the challenges associated with alcohol use disorder to create a safer community.

The local DWI program allows for multi-pronged approach to reducing DWI, alcoholism, and alcohol use. We know that many things by themselves help (treatment and enforcement for example), but using multiple strategies to combat the problem has a much greater effect. Therefore, local DWI Programs can fund different components (Community Wellness and Outreach, Treatment, Alternative Sentencing, and Program Administration. The local DWI Program must provide services throughout the county, to reach as many people as possible).

LDWI Components

As of 2024, there are 4 proven LDWI components. The McKinley County DWI Program is working on filling the needs and gaps of the community through these 4 proven components:

  • Community Wellness and Outreach
  • Treatment
  • Alternative Sentencing
  • Program Administration
